Cllr Stephen Atkinson (Leader of Reform UK Group) 

“County Councillor Stephen Atkinson is the Leader of Lancashire County Council and represents the division of Ribble Valley Southwest.

He served as leader of Ribble Valley Borough Council from January 2019 until he stood down earlier this year. 

Born in Lancashire, a self-trained engineer, he started his first business venture with his brother at the age of 21. Together they now run a Lancashire-based educational furniture business as well as invest in commercial and industrial properties in the area. 

Councillor Atkinson is married with two sons and describes himself as a devoted family man. In his spare time, he has a great love for the outdoors, enjoying walking, skiing, motorcycling, and sailing.”

Cllr Mick Barton (Deputy Leader of Reform UK Group) 

 “County Councillor Mick Barton has been Leader of Nottinghamshire County Council since May 2025, following his election as the Reform UK County Councillor for Mansfield East.

He brings over twenty-two years of local government experience from Mansfield District Council, where he served as Deputy Mayor, Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Council, Cabinet Member for Public Protection and Transformation, and Chairman of Licensing.

He has also chaired the Transport and Digital Connectivity Committee on the East Midlands Combined County Authority Board and the Local Government Association’s Fire Services Committee.

Since becoming Leader, Councillor Barton has delivered a highways review, an efficiency and finance review, and a new Council Plan for 2025–29.

He has led reforms in Adult Social Care and SEND, completed an LGA Peer Review, and developed a local government reorganisation option submitted to government, enabling £45.2 million in efficiency savings.”
