The pandemic brought an urgent need to provide support and assistance to families and individuals struggling with a wide range of issues across Cumbria County Council’s 2,613 square miles. To date, more than 27,000 residents have been supported by the council’s COVID-19 emergency helpline.

Bury has set up an uptake and inequalities task group, composed of council, NHS, HealthWatch and voluntary sector representatives to make sure vulnerable groups do not get left behind in the vaccine rollout out.

There are four local vaccination centres in the Wigan borough. Two are run from leisure centres, one from a community centre and the fourth at a conference centre. A local pharmacy has also recently started providing vaccinations recently.

Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWaC) have been providing ongoing support for the pre-planning of Primary Care Network (PCN) sites and the roll-out of all COVID-19 vaccination sites across the borough.

Care homes COVID-19 crisis prompted a local innovative, evidence-based approach to tackling COVID-19 infections/outbreaks and other challenges faced by Sutton care homes.

Developed a programme to address health and wellbeing disparity at a local level.

The council has played a crucial role in helping keep vaccination centres running and taking responsibility for many of the logistical issues so NHS staff can concentrate on giving vaccines.
